Fell TP Set for April

BERKELEY, CA -- 19 January, 2007 -- With the first several issues of FELL sold out and Warren Ellis's crime drama continuing to attract buzz following multiple printings of each issue, Image Comics has announced that a trade paperback collecting FELL #1-8 will hit bookshelves in April.

Written by Ellis with art by Ben Templesmith, FELL has received widespread critical acclaim since its launch, attracting some of the most glowing reviews of 2006. A sales juggernaut, FELL continues to sell out issue after issue, printing after printing, despite rising initial orders and an ongoing commitment to keeping each issue in stock via new printings. Now, Image is taking the phenomenon to the graphic novel shelf by collecting the first eight issues of the Eisner-nominated series into a single volume, FELL, VOL. 1: FERAL CITY TP.

FELL chronicles the life of Detective Richard Fell, a big city detective transferred over the bridge to Snowtown, a feral district whose police investigations department numbers three and a half people (one detective has no legs). Dumped in this collapsing urban trashzone, Fell is starting all over again and his ongoing story delivers visceral morality tales from the periphery of city life. In a place where nothing seems to make any sense, Detective Fell clings to the one thing he knows to be true: Everybody's hiding something.

Inspired by seemingly disparate influences such as stage plays and Will Eisner's newspaper strip THE SPIRIT, Ellis and Templesmith's carefully crafted masterpiece is a dark and dense story unlike anything else on the rack.

Creator and writer of such successful graphic novel series as TRANSMETROPOLITAN, PLANETARY, THE AUTHORITY and DESOLATION JONES, Ellis is in his element on FELL, and Templesmith, best known for his work on modern horror classic 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, has proven himself an inspired co-conspirator for what many are describing as one of Ellis's finest series to date.

"Ben's a mad genius," says Ellis. "His work is a perfect mix of Sienkiewicz's American experimentation, manga cartooning and European perspective. It's a unique-looking book, and writing for someone like Ben is like having eight different artists - there's nothing I can write that won't be illustrated eight times as well as I imagined."

FELL, VOL. 1: FERAL CITY (FEB071889), a 152-page trade paperback with a cover price of $14.99 is available in the March issue of Diamond Previews with an in-store date of April 14.

Image Comics Debuts Wolf-Man #1 on Free Comic Book Day

BERKELEY, CA -- 19 January, 2007 -- THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #1 is free!

Robert Kirkman, the fan-favorite writer of THE WALKING DEAD, INVINCIBLE, ULTIMATE X-MEN and MARVEL ZOMBIES, is teaming up with rising star artist Jason Howard for an all-new Image series, and everyone involved is so sure you'll be hooked, they're giving you the first issue on Free Comic Book Day!

THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN tells the story of workaholic CEO Gary Hampton, who is bitten by a werewolf while on a rare family vacation. Cursed to live out his nights as a werewolf, Gary seeks to find a positive purpose in his horrific new existence. But can a werewolf be a hero? THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN is about one man's struggle to do good when his body is designed for evil.

"Free Comic Book Day is a big event for comics and launching an all-new series by Robert Kirkman makes it even more special," says Image Comics' Executive Director Eric Stephenson. "This is Robert's first new Image series since THE WALKING DEAD and we want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to get in on the story from the beginning.

"Launching WOLF-MAN in such an unprecedented manner is also a great way to shine the spotlight on an emerging talent like Jason Howard."

"Jason Howard's artwork is as dynamic and exciting as it comes," adds Kirkman. "He's putting everything into WOLF-MAN. He's pencilling it, he's inking it, he's coloring it - he's an absolute thrill to work with."

THE ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #1 (FEB070018), an absolutely FREE 32-page comic book, is available for order in the February issue of Diamond Previews and will be in stores May 5, Free Comic Book Day.

New Shadowline Miniseries Continues Crime Comics Renaissance

BERKELEY, CA -- 19 January, 2007 -- The crime comic renaissance started by Warren Ellis's FELL, Ed Brubaker's CRIMINAL and Michael Avon Oeming's THE CROSS BRONX continues this April UNRAVEL - an all-new four-issue miniseries from Image Comics and Shadowline.

Written by Dan Wickline with art by Homeros Gilani, UNRAVEL begins with a stormy night foot pursuit through Central Park leaves Officer Lindsey Shaw at the mercy of an amnesiac stranger. Attempts to identify the mystery man point to a connection with a decade-old cold case murder that is not only unlikely, but seemingly impossible. Thrust into a case where nothing makes sense, Shaw must figure out how her case ties to a man killed while in police custody and then convicted posthumously of murder.

"Lindsay comes from a long line of NYPD police officers," explains Wickline. "It's in her blood. She trusts her gut and takes the risks necessary to get the job done. The problem is that the case she's working on is unlike any she's ever seen. She's forced to look at everything - and everyone - she trusts differently. Even herself."

Featuring twists, turns, shady characters, deceptions and people trying to do good in the worst of circumstances, UNRAVEL gives fans of crime comics exactly what they want and is certain to keep readers guessing all the way through to the end.

UNRAVEL #1 (FEB071880), a 32-page comic with a cover price of $3.50 ships, is available for order in the March issue of Diamond Previews, with a ship date of APRIL 25.
