Chapters | Sometimes it’s about the destination, sometimes the journey. With dark-wave quartet Chapters, it’s both. You may not like where you end up, but getting there is one hell of a ride. Their songs are fueled by lyrics both insinuating and overt, about gray areas and the guilt that can come from exploiting them.

"Just the thought of a completely unsolvble moral situation is very charged for me," explains lyricist/frontman Vincent Marks. Te man knows of what he speaks. Lyrically, Chapters’ songs are deep and brooding, sensual and sexual, inviting and disturbing. "I think there’s something on the surface for people who like to dance," says Vincent, "and something deeper for people who like going there."

With the release of debut EP Wife, the book on Chapters has barely begun. Better grab a seat now, ’cause you’re in for a long read.

The Bureau | "It’s easy to think of The Bureau as a throwback to darkly melodic new-wave bands of yore. In truth, The Bureau takes moody, synth-based rock ‘n’ roll and infuses it with a healthy dose of sharp-cornered post-punk and astute robo-rhythms. We Make Plans in Secret delivers on the promise of the band’s debut by framing Mike Cracciolo’s expressive, octave-spanning vocals with retro keyboard bleeps and lush synth pads, while the rhythm section maintains a propulsive, carbon-based energy." —Christian Schaeffer, Riverfront Times
