Chess Club (Memphis) | For Memphis power popsters Chess Club, it’s not as much about making the most of every day as it is every minute. Their music is incredibly addictive and hooky, solid power pop in the vein of Fountains of Wayne or Sloan. Says frontman Jason Barnett (guitar, lead vocals), "I’ve always thought of Chess Club as the weird guy in school who is handsome if you look past the out-of-date hairstyle and the Toughskin jeans. Very comfortable in his own skin yet pissed off that no one has asked him to prom."

Watching Judas | It all started with a pair of rowdy homeschooled boys running around half-naked in Superman capes to Star Wars music. Those brothers are Eric and Christian Barfield, and this is the strange, yet true story of how Watching Judas began.

STRIVE (Chicago) | STRIVE is the new breed of mainstream artist: relentless in its efforts to tour and promote itself, yet accessible enough that people of all ages and walks of life can latch on and claim the band as their own. "People like good music," maintains frontman, pianist and songwriter Derick Thompson. "If the lyrics and melodies touch you, it’s less important what musical genre it comes from. Music is our passion and, more importantly, it’s a calling," he says.
