Join PLAYBACK:stl as we host Tuesday nights at Cicero’s in the Loop of University City here in St. Louis. Each week, we will bring great acts to the cozy room in the club that offers fantastic bands every night. (We highly recommend the pizza.)

Dan Craig | There’s something about Dan Craig’s music. Often compared to artists like Damien Rice, Ryan Adams and Josh Ritter, "the innocence of Craig’s songwriting and the seasoned scratch of his voice" give way to the unique, yet reminiscently inviting music for which he has become known in Colorado. His 2006 release, Wirebird, ranges from subtly introspective to out-and-out experimental in such a way that one magazine reviewer described it as being equally appropriate for "long drives or minor meltdowns."

An Aesthetic Anaesthetic (Chicago) | With a penchant for "noise" and an addiction to "loud", An Aesthetic Anaesthetic created in October 2007 by Greg, Joshua, and Dan. It’s a blend of the entire sonic spectrum-ranging from melodic and beautiful to a caustic assault on the senses.

The Mirror Stage | The Mirror Stage had not even played a show together when hand-made copies of Ten Thousand Tongues were being shipped across the country, across the border, across the Atlantic because the EP had begun to hit a chord. Fans were being drawn by its complicated narratives, its dramatic reach. It was something different in a scene trying desperately to be different. Soon, they began coming for the band’s multi-sensory live show, which draws heavily from experimental film and photography, often pointing the camera at the audience rather than the stage in a way to make the show a collaborative experience.
