Wicked | The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz

If you ever loved The Wizard of Oz, it’s nearly impossible not to love this show.

Fabulous Fox Theater, St. Louis
June 16 – July 11

WICKED flies back into St. Louis on Wednesday for a nearly four-week run at The Fabulous Fox. The “untold story of the witches of Oz” gives a fresh perspective on a classic story – based on the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire. Long before Dorothy dropped in, two very different girls met in the Land of Oz. Elphaba – born with emerald-green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. Glinda is beautiful, ambitious and popular. The story of their remarkable odyssey and unlikely friendship leaves the audience with a whole new understanding of a story they’ve loved since childhood.

Currently in its seventh year, more than four million people have seen WICKED on Broadway since it began performances in the fall of 2003. This touring production features Vicki Noon in the lead role of Elphaba (the Wicked Witch), who teaches us that it’s just not easy being green. Noon joins the cast after standing by for Elphaba in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago. Natalie Daradich plays Glinda (the Good Witch) and joins the national tour after having performed both Glinda and Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose, with the Los Angeles and San Francisco companies.

This cast also features St. Charles native Todd Hanebrink. The Francis Howell North High graduate was in the Broadway company of WICKED for two years before joining the national tour. Prior to that, he toured for two years with Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out.

Having seen WICKED on its first run in St. Louis, I thoroughly enjoyed this highly entertaining combination of a great story and music with amazing set design and production. If you ever loved The Wizard of Oz, it’s nearly impossible not to love this show.
