The Fox Theater gives new meaning to the phrase “going green” this weekend when it hosts the St. Louis debut of SHREK THE MUSICAL, based on the story and characters from William Steig’s book Shrek!, as well as the popular DreamWorks Animation film.

SHREK THE MUSICALwas initiated when award-winning stage and film director Sam Mendes, a big fan of the first Shrek film, suggested the idea of creating a musical to DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenbergaround the time the second film was in production. The show debuted on Broadway in 2008 and began its first national tour this summer.
