Everyone’s favorite nanny is about to blow into town and land at the Fox Theater for a limited three-week engagement August 13 through 30. One of the most beloved movie-musicals of all-time, made by Walt Disney in 1964 with superstars Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, Mary Poppins has delighted generations for more than 40 years.

The stage production, co-produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, opened on Broadway in November 2006 and features the Academy Award®-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman.  It was created in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh by Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who wrote the book, and the team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who composed new songs and additional music and lyrics.

The entire creative team has reunited to bring this magical story to audiences across the country. Original Broadway Cast stars Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee are reprising their roles as "Mary Poppins" and "Bert" respectively. Brown received Drama League, Drama Desk and Outer Critic Circle nominations for Best Actress for her performance on Broadway. Lee also received critical acclaim for his portrayal of "Bert", both in NY and London, receiving the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor as well as Tony, Outer Critic Circle and Olivier Award nominations for Best Actor.

There are also a few St. Louis connections in the national touring cast as well.  Karl Kenzler, who plays George Banks spent many years living here 1974 and ensemble member Brandon Bieber grew up in St. Louis, attending St. Louis University High School, and his family still lives here. He was a member of COCA (Center of Contemporary Arts) and MUNY Kids/Teens, performing at the MUNY every summer since he was six years old. While in town, he will teach a Masters Class at COCA on August 14.

Now in its third smash year at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York, Mary Poppins recently celebrated its 1,000th performance – a milestone reached by only a rare few number of shows in Broadway history.

Fans of all ages will delight in seeing cherished songs like "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious" and "Let’ Go Fly a Kite," come to life onstage. This one is a don’t-miss for families wanting to provide their kids with their first taste of Broadway.
