Bruiser Queen Debuts at Firebird | 04.23.10

It made sense to us that we would debut Bruiser Queen, at the Firebird.

Fans of some of STL’s favorite garage bands have cause for celebration this Friday night as Bruiser Queen takes the stage for its local debut at The Firebird. Formed late last year, Bruiser Queen is the explosive new project fronted by singer/guitarist Morgan Nusbaum (bassist/singer of St. Louis faves The 75s). Though Nusbaum has garnered some new fans playing acoustic solo shows around town as of late, Bruiser Queen lets her flaunt her electric side. The band is rounded out by drummer extraordinaire Jason Potter (formerly of Left Arm, Midtown Thieves) and bassist Ben Ellebracht.

Potter, an artist as well as a musician (he designs hand screen printed posters for the band and other local acts), infuses his unique style and personality into every project and Bruiser Queen is no exception.
"It made sense to us that we would debut Bruiser Queen, at the Firebird,” he tells me. “Our other bands (The 75s and Left Arm) love playing there and it’s such a great room with a great staff – it’s home."
Sharing the bill with Bruiser Queen are another pair of local acts, The Spark Thugs and Dicegrinder.
