Omar & The Howlers | Boogie Man

Texas-based blues rockers Omar and the Howlers released their 17th album in just over 20 years, Boogie Man, in October 2003. Omar's previous albums have featured everything from solo work to live guitar driven albums. Boogie Man is a return to his Austin-by-way-of-Mississippi style of roots rock.

"Boogie Man," the title track, is a solid tribute to John Lee Hooker – "Nothin's gonna stop the boogie man…" Rings all too true. Along with the many Texas style guitar lead songs, Omar rounds the album off nicely with some groovier songs like "Drowning In Love" – which offers a true-to-life story of a man in love. "Teeth chatter, knees keep knocking / Pull me in now there's no stopping…/… Here I am drowning in Love with you…"

The Howlers are full of Austin talent including, Terry Bozzio, Chris Duarte, Alejandro Escovedo, Jon Dee Graham, Malcolm Welborne and Stevie Ray Vaughn's rhythm team; Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon.

Omar and the Holwers spend most of their time traveling and performing in Europe. Fore more information on Boogie Man or their tour schedule go to www.omarandthehowlers.com. | Jeremy Segel-Moss
