Legendary New Wave band New Order is back with its 10th studio album, the band’s first without founding member/bassist Peter Hook. Music Complete contains guest appearances by such artists as Iggy Pop, La Roux, and Brandon Flowers More electronic than previous releases, it marks the return of that classic New Order sound, while showing growth in song crafting.

Known for irresistible, haunting melodies and electronic passion, the band does not disappoint. The first American single, “Restless,” takes the listener on an ethereal journey with a catchy beat and sing-able melody. This album is New Order doing what it does best, classic New Wave with a modern touch. This is evidenced by second single, “Plastic,” an airy, dreamy track that draws the listener in. Produced mostly by the band itself, the album is crisp, tight, and quite well mixed, with darker tunes such as “Tutti Frutti” providing diversity than past releases

The songs blend quite well into each other, creating a danceable, yet methodical track progression. The album will be released in several different formats. Vinyl, Cd, and multi-colored vinyl set, containing all eleven tracks remixed. The artwork is courtesy of long time New Order cover artist, Peter Saville, with each format—CD, vinyl, and multicolored vinyl set—featuring a different color scheme.

Overall, New Order has pulled it off again. Danceable, yet moody, this release is a long time coming, an excellent opus of hypersonic tunes. B | Marc Farr
