London, England’s Hell Is for Heroes’ latest release, Transmit Disrupt, leaves me conflicted. The post-hardcore band is an odd mix of interesting rhythms and coarse, painful vocals. The band’s rhythm section is an enjoyable mix of the Clash and vintage U2, but Justin Schlosberg’s sloppy vocals make me want to run back to the safe confines of American pop-punk. The 12 songs—complete with two untitled tracks—are an interesting take on where the U.K. post-hardcore sound is heading; I am just not sure that I can get on board with Schlosberg’s random lyrics.
