Since the late 1970s, hard-rock outfit Whitesnake has been delivering pop-kissed rock n’ roll. Yet it wasn’t until the early 1980s release Slide It In and the advent of MTV that the group saw superstardom. With hits like “Slow and Easy,” the band proved itself to be a powerful act. In 1987, with the release of the self-titled album Whitesnake, the band exploded on the airwaves and in arenas with killer tracks like “Crying in the Rain,” and “Here I Go Again.” The band was cemented in the annuals of rock.

Now, almost 25 years after that explosive album, the band is back and playing The Family Arena in St. Charles on August 16th, 2015. Vocalist David Coverdale and company will grace the stage, promoting their newest release, The Purple Album. The record contains re-recordings of past songs Coverdale performed during his pre-Whitesnake stint with Deep Purple.

The multi-platinum selling band—with Coverdale still at the helm—has been rocking audiences since 1978, and continue on today. While the line-up has changed over the years, the music stays the same: lustful, sexy, and hard-rocking. With his Robert Plant-style vocal, there seems to be no stopping Coverdale. Although its popularity waned in the 1990s, the band is seeing a resurgence in popularity.

Joining Whitesnake onstage is Australian outfit The Dead Daises, founded by former INXS member Jon Stevens. It has sported former members of Guns N Roses, The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, and The Cult. Recently, former Motley Crue/Union lead singer John Corabi has taken over lead vocals. Touring behind the 2015 release Revolución, The Dead Daises has toured with KISS, and will do so again when they hit Australia in October.

Whitesnake with special guests The Dead Daises play The Family Arena in St. Charles on August 16th. Tickets are available now at The Family Arena box office, any Ticketmaster outlet, or online at www.ticketmaster.com. | Marc Farr
