live tame-impalaCome out and plague with a new generation of shock-rock.

Shock-rocker extraordinaire Wednesday 13 is back with a highly anticipated new album and tour. Monsters of The Universe: Come Out and Plague was released earlier this year, and now the former Murderdoll brings his “Invasion:Earth 2015” tour to St. Louis, playing Fubar on July 24.

The new album is Wednesday’s sixth solo LP, and the first to have a song not written by the artist himself. His first concept album, 13, had fan interaction on its release, allowing them to name the 13 monsters, planets, and life forms involved in the concept.

A favorite tourmate of Alice Cooper, Wednesday 13 is part of a new generation of shock rock. Borrowing from the B-movies he loves so much, he encompasses that genre musically. His dark lyrics speak of death, suicide, and murder, dressed with a sense of humor. The first single from the new album, ”Come Out and Plague,” was released on Soundcloud last October, followed by the album’s release in January.

Live, the man is a horrifying juggernaut of metal. With six albums and two releases with Murderdolls, he has a great amount of material to choose from. From his first single, “I Walked with a Zombie,” to his new album, he approaches his music with a definite tongue in cheek.

Opening the show will be one of my favorite local metal acts, Blackdeth. Eric Woods & Co. are touring in support if their EP, Spreading the Plague. A good, solid show. | Marc Farr

Tickets for Wednesday 13 on July 24th are still available at the Fubar box office, or from Ticketfly.
