The Tallest Man on Earth is the stage name for Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson. Often compared to the likes of Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, and Woody Guthrie, Matsson brings with him a charismatic stage presence and an ever growing list of critical praise. Since 2006, he has released four albums that, with each release, grow his fanbase, score continued praise, and expand on his sound.

2015’s wonderful release, Dark Bird Is Home, furthers his ambition by incorporating a full band, electrical loops, and other musical tricks throughout, mixed with his trademark folk stylings. His songs are passionate, soulful, sometimes whimsical and fun, and other times heartwrenching. He virtually sounds like no one else currently out there with vocals that are sometimes raspy, sometimes nasally, but always sincere. [Check out the video for “Love Is All,” which they performed on Later with Jools Holland.]

The Tallest Man on Earth will be playing the Pageant in St. Louis on July 24. At time of publication, tickets are still available, but with his increasing popularity, this is sure to be a packed show. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Pageant or through the usual outlets. Stay tuned for our full show review! | Michael Koehler
