They’re a mix of all of the music that makes America feel like America: super retro, soul, gospel, R&B, ’70s rock, and hand clapping.
Denver’s Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats have been around for a minute. They’ve blown up recently, but those who were in the know a few years ago could catch them in St. Louis at the Duck Room. Not anymore.
Their already-sold-out concert at The Pageant in December promises to be a mix of all of the music that makes America feel like America: super retro, soul, gospel, R&B, ’70s rock, and hand clapping. Folk music, at its core, is the music of the people. All of these different sounds come from the same place. From the working man, from old friends at a bar. From broken hearts and empty bottles.
Rateliff and his Night Sweats pull us together with their outstanding, floor-shaking shows. If you were lucky enough to get a ticket on this tour, prepare to be shaken. | Melissa Cynova
