On Tour: M83

If they are coming through your area, make sure to purchase tickets quickly, as shows are selling out.

M83 has become a touring juggernaut. Its latest release, Junk, dropped in April, and since then they’ve been in every crevice of America. They’ve drawn huge crowds at Coachella and Bonnaroo, and played many a packed concert club, as well. The rest of the year will see Anthony Gonzalez and his bandmates stretched across the world.

Many know M83 from 2011’s “Midnight City” but Junk has produced two hits, as well, in “Do It, Try It” and “Go!” which is the song of the summer for many. Gonzalez has drawn an immense amount of inspiration from the ’80s and even wears a Teen Wolf mask on stage from time to time.

Though Gonzalez may serve as centerpiece and composer, his band contributes much to the show. Jordan Lawler is manic on stage, dancing and jumping as hard as anyone in the crowd. Kaela Sinclair, who took over for former band member Morgan Kibby prior to the new album’s release, is entrancing as a keyboardist and singer. Together, they bring Gonzalez’s dreams to life.

M83 just released a new slew of dates, so if they are coming through your area, make sure to purchase tickets quickly, as shows are selling out. | Bruce Matlock
