On Tour: Hey Violet

Hey Violet’s sound is almost as if Katy Perry and Paramore had a love child.

After getting their big break opening with Five Seconds of Summer on its Rock Out with Your Socks Out Tour, pop-rock band Hey Violet is embarking on their first U.S. headlining tour—and they sure know how to rock.

Having changed their name from Cherri Bomb upon parting ways with their vocalist in 2013, Hey Violet has been on a pretty steady upswing. Since 2015, they have signed with Five Seconds of Summer’s label, Hi Or Hey Records, played shows alongside them to audiences of 20,000 and more for two consecutive summers, and released their newest single titled “Guys My Age,” which peaked the pop charts at No. 20.

Youthful, playful, somewhat heavy, and very well-acquainted with their instruments, Hey Violet’s sound is almost as if Katy Perry and Paramore had a love child. Definite elements of rock, while maintaining pop undertones makes this group one that stands out and seems to be very well received. | Alyssa Bardol
