On Tour: Garbage

Garbage is back on tour and supporting a brand new album, Strange Little Birds, the band’s sixth studio album.

Strange Little Birds is the band’s first album since 2012’s Not Your Kind of People. Garbage consists of Shirley Manson (lead vocals/keyboard/guitar), Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums, percussion). Simply put, the Madison, Wisc., band continues to rock—and rock hard, especially behind the gritty vocal of Manson. (See my review of Garbage’s new album, Strange Little Birds, here.)

Formed in 1993, the band has sold over 17 million albums worldwide. Garbage’s first album, the self-titled Garbage, has moved four million units to date. It was immediately certified double platinum in the U.K., U.S., and Australia on the strength of its two big singles, “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains.” Four studio albums followed, with the sixth one dropping this month. All band members are involved in the writing and production of their albums.

To say the least, Manson is a force of nature. When Garbage takes the stage, she demands the respect of the crowd with just her presence. Manson & Co. are an amazing band to see live; you will not be sorry for purchasing tickets. I know I plan to have butt in seats on July 12. | Tracy Fort
