On Tour: Bullet for My Valentine

Fresh off the heels of their new album Venom, the four-man band is becoming heavy hitters in the hard rock/heavy metal scene. Now on their fifth album, the band continues to rage, and the material is stage worthy. One hopes the concert is not simply a showcase for the new album, but a display of songs from their entire discography, including previous release Temper Temper.

The band boasts a crunching, melodic sound, with brutal vocals courtesy of Matthew Tuck. The dual guitar work between Tuck and lead guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget is precise and on point. With backing members Michael Thomas on drums and Jaime Mathias on bass, the group’s material ebbs and flows with a great duality, which underlies the band’s sound. “We’re a hard rock band with metal influences, and I’ve said that from day one,” says Tuck.

Opening the show is England’s Asking Alexandria, the popular York, U.K., metalcore band releasing its fourth full-length album, The Black, in March. Featuring a new lead vocalist in Denis Stoff, fans are waiting in anticipation to hear the new material, especially live. From opener to closer, this is a show not to be missed by hard rock/heavy music fans. | Marc Farr
