On Tour: Boston

When the seats are filled with audiences yearning to hear these delightfully classic tunes, there will always be a place for Boston.

Seminal 1970s rockers Boston have taken to the road in celebration of their 40th anniversary in April. With a high-tech virtual spaceship motif in tow, the band is ready to rock once again. Tom Scholz and his cohorts, including lead singer Tommy DeCarlo (who first performed with Boston in 2007, after the suicide death of original lead singer Brad Delp), will soon be gracing stages across the United States—and, if you love classic rock, this is one show not to miss.

To date, Boston has released six studio albums and sold over 75 million units, 17 million of which were their debut. And while the lineup has had its fair share of changes, the band found new energy in DeCarlo, who is vocally a dead ringer for the absent Delp. Sonically, the band is tight and precise, without losing that Boston groove of rock ’n’ roll or the angelic harmonies for which they are known.

boston-album-coverThe show is sure to be filled with mega hits including “More than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” “Rock and Roll Band,” and “Don’t Look Back,” yet also touched by some heavy fan favorites. This is a band with a rich history, and an unmistakable sound. Still true to their sound in 2016, the band delivers songs that sound as fresh and contemporary as they did four decades ago. Nothing has ever stopped this band. When the seats are filled with audiences yearning to hear these delightfully classic tunes, there will always be a place for Boston. (And let’s never forget the spectacular Boston Spaceship…)

Opening the show is the iconic band Blue Oyster Cult, who will be delivering hits such as “Burnin’ for You” and “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” Musically, it’s a good pairing, and sure to be a great night of classic rock. | Marc Farr
