On Tour: AC/DC

To them, it’s all rock ’n’ roll, always and forever.

prev_ACDCWith a new album, Rock or Bust, and lots of drama surrounding the band, it was speculated that AC/DC would not tour. But these hard rock legends are pros, and they know the fans want them. Even with serious health problems (founding member and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young suffered a stroke last year, making it impossible for him to tour) and legal problems (their drummer was arrested on suspicion of murder for hire), AC/DC does not disappoint its fans.

Hits like “Hell’s Bells,” “Back in Black” and the über popular “Highway to Hell” have earned AC/DC the reputation of being one of hard rock’s loudest bands, and have proven it a number of times. Guitarist Angus Young still dons his trademark schoolboy costume and delivers his riffs with his signature style Vocalist Brian Johnson grunts and screams his lyrics in a unique, blistering way. This is one artist who has kept true to its sound. The band has never experimented with any other genre; to them, it’s all rock ’n’ roll, always and forever. With legions of fans, AC/DC has had no reason to change its style, as the crowds love them just the way they are.

AC/DC kicks off its U.S. tour February 17 in Chicago. As of press time, there is no listed opening act—but do they really need one? Hell, they’re AC/DC! After 30-plus years in the business, they need no fancy opening act to attract ticket buyers. However, any band lucky enough to get the slot is one lucky bunch of fellows. | Marc Farr
