On Tour: 311

311’s following is fueled by their efforts to personally connect with the fan base, endearingly referred to as the “excitable ones.”

311 members Nick Hexum, Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton, P-Nut, and SA Martinez continue to enjoy success after more than 25 years. The band’s cultivation of loyal followers has allowed them to book sold-out shows around the world. 311’s following is fueled by their efforts to personally connect with the fan base—endearingly referred to as the “excitable ones,” with a fan club referred to as “the hive”—by performing shows in smaller venues, hosting numerous meet and greets, and even hosting a cruise for the fans in which everyone on board gets the opportunity to meet the band members. For many years over the past decade, the band has booked larger shows on March 11 (3-11), drawing fans from all 50 states and well as multiple countries around the world as a form of celebration.

311’s commitment to their fans will be particularly evident when their 12th album is released in late June. It’s titled Mosaic, and the album cover is composed of over 10,000 individual fan photos. The combination of 311’s unique blend of ska and reggae-rock music, entertaining live performances, and deep commitment to connect to fans means will continue to have success for years to come. | Jamie Schroeder
