On Tap: Band of Horses w/The Shelters

It only makes sense The Shelters are opening for Band of Horses, as both bands have very similar laidback, groovy vibes.

The Shelters take a break from their current tour with Night Riots and the Hunna to team up with Band of Horses for a one-off show at The Pageant in St. Louis on November 30. The show is the second in a series of 105.7 The Point’s annual Ho Ho Shows.

On tour to promote their self-titled debut album, The Shelters offer up indie rock mixed with tones of surf rock and blues rock. Mentored by Tom Petty, the band members were left alone in the rock icon’s studio all by themselves, just to see what would happen. What came from those sessions is an album full of free-flowing rock rhythms, dreamy vocals, and an easygoing vibe. Hopefully, they will bring their peace, love, and happiness vibe to The Pageant stage: St. Louis needs some love right now.

It only makes sense the Shelters are opening for Band of Horses, as both bands have very similar laidback, groovy vibes. On the road to support their fifth album, Why Are You OK, Band of Horses succeeds in offering up stress-management rock. There must be something in the West Coast air: Both acts hail from there, and both have a sense of ease and relaxation in their music.

Fun fact: Both bands’ latest albums dropped June 10. Rock and roll kismet. | Jim Ryan
