With the release of their 21st album, legendary English rockers Motorhead will take the stage of The Pageant in the Delmar Loop on Tuesday Sept. 8, 2015. Formed in 1975 by bassist/lead vocalist Lemmy Kilmister, the band has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and will release their latest effort, Bad Magic, later this summer. The album features a guest appearance by Queen’s Brian May.

Joined by Phil Campbell on guitar and Mikkey Dee on drums, the band has toured with the best of the best—acts like Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, and Metallica to name a few. Now, headlining their own tour, we are sure to hear our favorite Motorhead tunes, including “Ace Of Spades,” “Iron Fist,” and “Killed By Death.” As members of the 1980’s New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the band even rank on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, coming in at number 26. There is very little this band has not accomplished during their 40-year career, and they show no signs of slowing down.

Opening the evening is yet another classic British hard rock band. Road veterans Saxon will be supporting Motorhead. Formed in 1979, they are about to release their 21st album as well. Their new CD, Battering Ram, will also see a late-summer release. Fronted by vocalist Biff Byford, the band has played some prestigious festivals, including Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival. Their brand of medieval metal is a great compliment to the evening. If the first single is any indication of the album, it is sure to be a highly enjoyable, heavy album. | Marc Farr
