Coming off the triumphant success of their first full-length album, Lux, and with numerous tours under their belt promoting the album, nu metal band Gemini Syndrome will rock St. Louis on October 4 when they visit the Ready Room. With the recently released single, “Eternity,” it seems the band is working on a new album during tour breaks.

Live, the band is a technical juggernaut. Tight and focused, the pounding drive behind the band comes courtesy of bassist Alessandro “AP” Paveri and drummer Brian Steele Medina. Gemini Syndrome has gone through some lineup changes, especially in the guitar role, yet, it is vocalist Aaron Nordstrom who brings out the true grit and style of the band. Originally a guitarist for Otep, Nordstrom switched to vocals for Gemini Syndrome. Stylistically, he is much more than just another hard rock screamer. While capable of a brutal delivery, his voice carries an infectious melodic tenor tone. On tracks such as “Pay for This,” “Pleasure and Pain,” and the most successful single to date, “Stardust,” Nordstrom rages and yet can still deliver a dark melody.

As for who will be playing guitar on this tour, no names have been announced as of yet. Whoever it is, they have large shoes to fill, as this is not merely four-chord rock. Progressive yet riff-oriented, the use of synths in just the right places combined with a killer vocal delivery makes for one outstanding sound. Live, the material rages forth from the speakers. Nordstrom is a sonic monster who can vocally whip the crowd into a frenzy. | Marc Farr

Tickets for Gemini Syndrome are still available at The Ready Room box office, or through www.ticketfly.com. Opening the night’s festivities are 9ELECTRIC and Exotype.
