Formed by Simon Cowell in the second season of The X Factor (USA), Fifth Harmony is an all-female group contributing to the genres of pop and R&B.

The band consists of Ally Brooke Hernandez (22), Normani Kordei (19), Lauren Jauregui (19), Camila Cabello (18), and Dinah Jane Hansen (18). Having worked with Cowell, L.A. Reid, and Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony secured the proper coaching to take their insane vocals to the next level.

After opening for Lovato on her Neon Lights Tour, Fifth Harmony released its debut solo album, Reflection, in February of this year. The band has already proven on The X Factor that each of them can sing and dance; now they are following up with The Reflection Tour. The girls have been touring the country, talking with morning and night shows about their ideas for the tour, as well as their plans to keep each show fresh and new. This is sure to be an exciting show.

Unlike many young artists today, the girls of Fifth Harmony are using their music to serve as excellent role models. Their hits, such as “Bo$$” and “Reflection,” are about female empowerment. Their musical style is similar to that of Danity Kane (from P. Diddy’s Making the Band), with deeper lyrical meaning. The music is meant for a younger audience—I would say mainly geared toward teens and twenties.

It’s still early in their career, but this is not a group you want to miss take off. Fifth Harmony will be performing at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis on July 23. | Samantha LaBat
