Marvel Comics 5.2 | World War Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and more

hulkheaderOld Jade Jaws prepares for World War Hulk in Hulk #106 and the one-shot World War Hulk Prologue: World Breaker, the new leader of the Mighty Avengers raises her profile in Ms. Marvel #16, Ash takes on the rotting corpses of the MU in Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness #3, and the wallcrawler faces yet another emotional crisis in the Sensational Spider-Man Annual #1.

World War Hulk's Opening Shots In May

This May, the road to war begins in World War Hulk Prologue: World Breaker, as the Hulk begins the long journey to revenge. Written by classic Hulk scribe Peter David and featuring the art of Al Rio, Lee Weeks & Sean Phillips, World War Hulk Prologue: World Breaker brings you up to speed on the Hulk's recent journey and provides the perfect jumping-on point for readers new and old, who will get a rare glimpse into the psyche of the jade giant.

Months ago, the Illuminati sent Hulk into space, hoping the monster would find peace on another world, leading to the now classic Planet Hulk storyline. Hulk landed on Sakaar, and now through a series of tragic events, the Hulk is back…and he isn't just going to smash-he's going to destroy!

In the wake of Civil War, the MU is already in enough chaos as it is, but it's one boy named Amadeus Cho whose actions may take things to the next level. In Hulk #106, Cho prepares for the Hulk's arrival by gathering a group of super heroes to side with the Hulk in the coming war. Who will join with the Hulk and who will fight him?

Stephen Gerding, of Kung Fu Rodeo, couldn't stop raving about Planet Hulk, the best selling epic tale of which every issue sold out and which leads into World War Hulk. "We've been treated to a Hulk-as-Conan storyline that writer Greg Pak has made into the most interesting time in the Jade Giant's life since Peter David left the book," said Gerding. "Combine the writing with stronger than I'd expected art and amazing covers from Ladronn … and you have the biggest surprise from Marvel in years."

With the Planet Hulk HC collection arriving in June to coincide with World War Hulk roaring into the summer, Marvel urges retailers to check their orders for World War Hulk, as the rave reviews for Planet Hulk continue to roll in. Fans, don't miss your first chance to join the excitement in the pages of World War Hulk Prologue: World Breaker and Hulk #106.

Note: the page count on World War Hulk Prologue: World Breaker has increased from 48 to 64 pages and will now feature an extensive sneak-peak at the World War Hulk event at no extra cost!

Ms. Marvel Takes Flight With Bold New Direction

When MS. MARVEL debuted little over a year ago, Ms. Marvel said she wanted to be the best of the best and if reader response is any indication, she's making her way to the top! With new regular penciler Aaron Lopresti onboard, joining regular writer Brian Reed and cover artist Greg Horn, issues #13 and #14 of MS. MARVEL have sold out at Diamond! Tying into The Initiative, Mighty Avengers, Omega Flight and Civil War, MS. MARVEL is quickly becoming the place to go for stories that tie into the "big picture" of the Marvel U!

"Two sellouts in a row? Ms. Marvel is making 2007 her year!" exclaimed series editor Bill Rosemann. "She's leading Earth's best in Mighty Avengers, she's teaching the next generation of heroes in The Initiative, and this is the book where it all comes together. Issue #13 showed how Carol came to the decision to join Tony Stark's new team, issue #14 reveals how she sets up Arachne to star in Omega Flight – and just wait until you see how issues #15 – #17 set the stage for Super-Villain Team-Up: M.O.D.O.K.'S 11! To me, Carol Danvers is the Kevin Bacon of the Marvel Universe – she's connected to everything cool going on right now… and the killer new creative team of writer Brian Reed, penciler Aaron Lopresti, inker Matt Ryan, colorist Chris Sotomayor, letter Dave Sharpe and cover artist Greg Horn are on a roll. Readership is up, issues are selling out, and the best is yet to come!"

And you won't want to miss the epic showdown in MS.MARVEL #15, coming in May, as the new "Ready, A.I.M., Fire!" storyline begins.

"Every month our whole team is here, helping Carol Danvers be the single most important woman in the Marvel Universe. From Iron Man to Ant Man, the Mighty Avengers to The Initiative – the Marvel Universe is absolutely revolving around Ms. Marvel these days," said Reed, who's also working on the red hot New Avengers: Illuminati. "And now two months in a row the audience has grown to the point that we're selling out? That's about the best thing I could ask for."

Please note that MS.MARVEL #13-14 may still be available at the retailer level. Marvel advises that retailers check their orders for upcoming issues as MS.MARVEL continues to have huge repercussions for the rest of the Marvel Universe. At this time there are no plans to go back to press on either sold out issue.

Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness #2 Sells Out

Marvel & Dynamite are pleased to announce that Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness #2 has sold out at Diamond. This comes as the Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness #1 debuts its second printing variant Captain America #1 "homage" cover, complete with a new Arthur Suydam cover! Featuring Ash, the star of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead/Army Of Darkness films, and the Marvel Zombies themselves (zombie versions of your favorite Marvel characters), Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness has thrilled readers, retailers and critics!

"I enjoyed myself to the very end," said IGN's Richard George of this crossover event.

The sentiment was echoed by Matt Klokel of FantomComics.Com, who exclaimed that Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness is, "a clever, well thought out story."

May's Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness #3 will see Ash try to save humanity by searching for the Necronomicon (how does he do that considering the surprise "ending" of issue #2, fans will need to check out #3 to find out), but even with his considerable zombie killing skills, can he survive his battle with Marvel's Mightiest Heroes, err, Zombies? There's only one place you'll find all the answers – true believer!

Retailers Note: Retailers considering increasing orders, the FOC for Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness #1 Variant Captain America #1 Cover and Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness #3 is Thursday April 12th at 5PM!

Please note that copies of Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness #2 may be available at the retailer level. With the continued strong interest in the Marvel Zombies, Marvel advises retailers to check their orders for upcoming issues. At this time there are no plans to go back to press on Marvel Zombies/Army Of Darkness #2.

There's No Love Lost In Sensational Spider-Man Annual #1

Spider-Man's life changing Back In Black story continues in a very special issue of Sensational Spider-Man, so special it needed extra pages! In Sensational Spider-Man Annual #1, both Peter Parker and Mary Jane are faced with major decisions that will affect everyone in their lives. How far will Peter go to save Aunt May? Will Mary Jane be able to survive this life of deception and secrets much longer? Will a person from Mary Jane's romantic past force her to reconsider her future as Spider-Man's wife?  Written by rising star Matt Fraction (Immortal Iron Fist, Punisher War Journal) and featuring art from Salvador Larroca (newuniversal), including Romita-esque flashback sequences that you need to see to believe, this Annual is nothing short of, well, sensational.

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Sensational Spider-Man Annual #1, which continues the sold-out Back In Black storyline and ups the ante for the wallcrawler.

Marvel is also pleased to announce that Sensational Spider-Man #36 has sold out at Diamond. This sell out means that all "Back In Black" issues released thus far have sold out at Diamond, the latest in a long line of recent successes for the wall crawler. There are no plans to go back to press at this time, though copies may still be available at local retailers.
