First Look | A Mighty Marvel March

marvelheaderThe fallout from Civil War spreads out across a smattering of Marvel titles, as seen here in a smattering of covers and a 6-page preview of Amazing Spider-Man #539. Not in the mood for universe-spanning shenanigans? How about Brett Booth's amazing art on Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter #5, or the conclusion of Kaare Andrews' controversial mini Spider-Man: Reign #4?

The Initiative Has Begun

The Civil War is over and the Pro-Registration heroes led by Iron Man have prevailed.  Now, the Initiative has begun and is in full-effect in the pages of Iron Man #15, on-sale now, where Tony Stark has taken over as the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Plus, the shockwaves from the end of Civil War continue to be felt throughout the Marvel Universe in two Civil War epilogues as Ben Urich and Sally Floyd reveal the traitor of the Pro-Registration forces in Civil War Front Line #11 and Black Panther and Storm tackle the clone of Thor on Civil War's final battlefield in Black Panther #25.

If you thought Civil War changed the Marvel Universe, you will not want to miss the Initiative titles on-sale next week because even more earth-shattering status quo changes are in store for your favorite heroes.

Civil War: The Initiative, written by Brian Bendis and Warren Ellis with art by Marc Silvestri, introduces the new directions for Iron Man, the Mighty Avengers, the New Avengers, the Thunderbolts as well as the first appearance of the new Omega Flight.

Captain America #25 kicks off an incredibly shocking new era for Steve Rogers following his imprisonment at the end of Civil War that will have comicdom talking for months to come.

And pick up Fantastic Four #543 as a new chapter begins for the First Family of Comics as Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny come together to decide if the Fantastic Four is really no more.  Who comes?  Who goes?  You can only find out in Fantastic Four #543.

And in two weeks, Civil War: The Confession hits stand by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev as the Eisner Award-Winning creative team bring to you the two heroes most affected by Civil War coming together one last time.  You must read this issue to see where they go from here!

Back in Black Continues to Sell Out- and the Biggest Surprise Yet to Come!

Hunted, his identity exposed, and those he loves caught in the crosshairs; Spider-Man's life has been a nightmare during Civil War, and the darkest days are yet to come.  Now, in the wake of Amazing Spider-Man #538's shocking closing moment, the most recognizable character in comics has donned one of the most controversial costumes ever as he goes underground and back to his black duds and must fight back to reclaim his life.  SPIDER-MAN: BACK IN BLACK!  Now, there is NO going back!

The three previous BACK IN BLACK titles, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #17, Sensational Spider-Man #35, and Spider-Man Family #1 have all sold out at Diamond.  While some copies may still be available at a retail level, the rest are gone and Marvel currently has no plans to go back to press.  But hold on to your webs, Spidey fans, because the biggest BACK IN BLACK title is still to come.

On March 21st, Peter goes on the offensive, and on the hunt, as Aunt May's life hangs in the balance in Amazing Spider-Man #539, and when this story has finished, Spider-Man's life, and the lives of those Peter Parker holds dearest, will never be the same again!

BACK IN BLACK is a smash success, and the shocks will continue to come all summer long, making 2007 the Summer of the Spider-Man!  RETAILERS- check this week's Marvel Mailer for a special incentive on Amazing Spider-Man #539, which FOC's this week.

DABEL BROTHERS BRING BRETT BOOTH TO LOS ANGELES

Famed comic book artist makes rare appearance in WizardWorld LA this March to sign and sketch for fans of his work.

Ask any fan of Dabel Brothers Productions which comic book artist they most associate with the Dabels' books, and he or she is likely to utter the same name:

Brett Booth.

From his early days in the comic book industry drawing Wildstorm's Backlash to his wonderful work on recent Dabel Brothers books like The Burning Man and Magician: Apprentice, artist and illustrator Brett Booth has long been a fan-favorite in the comic book industry, with tens of thousands of fans around the world. Notoriously reclusive, Booth rarely attends conventions or fan events, despite the fact that he provides the visual punch behind the sold-out success story from Dabel Brothers Production and Marvel Comics, Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter in Guilty Pleasures.

And now, to help promote the Anita Blake series and to give back to the fans who have kept his name alive in a very competitive industry, Brett Booth has agreed to appear at WizardWorld LA on March 16th and 17th to sit in on a panel with Marvel Comics, sign copies of his books for fans, and offer fans a rare opportunity to purchase an original sketch at the convention.

"We've been friends with Brett for years, but we've always had trouble talking him into attending a convention, despite the fact that fans are always begging us to bring him," laughed Les Dabel, Vice President of Dabel Brothers Productions. "We're thrilled that he's agreed to come and help promote the Anita Blake series just as it begins to achieve critical mass, and we're sure that Brett's fans will be as excited as we are to see him attend this year's first WizardWorld convention!"

The Dabel Brothers will announce details for the signings, sketch times, and panel as soon as they are made available. For more information on Dabel Brothers Productions, please visit http://www.dabelbrothers.com and http://www.marvel.com.

Scorching Hot Series Concludes in Spider-Man: Reign #4

Witness the stunning conclusion to the book that has been too hot too stay on the shelves in Spider-Man: Reign #4. The first and second issues of this smash hit have soldout at Diamond, prompting a second printing of each. And then the second printing of the first issue sold out at Diamond as well, solidifying the series as one of the most buzz-worthy of the new year.

Corey Brotherson of Comixfan.com calls Spider-Man: Reign "a well-made, adventurous, visceral and downright engaging series."

Steve Ekstrom of Newsarama.com says, "Spider-Man: Reign should be considered a standard bearer for any of Marvel's futuristic tales starring any of its time honored roster. If that's not a strong enough recommendation…then I don't know what else I could say. Please go out and buy this mini-series!"

Kaare Andrews's chilling look into Spider-Man's future has left fans amazed at the sight of a feeble and aged Peter Parker forced back into the mantle of Spider-Man and the conclusion in issue #4 is one that can't be missed.

See why Venom has gone to such great lengths to lure Spider-man out. Can an elderly Spider-man defeat the vicious and sinister symbiote? Or will another hero have to step up to save the city?

This is an issue that fans cannot miss. If Spider-Man: Reign #4 is anything like its predecessors, this issue is sure to fly off the shelves so make sure you secure your copy!

Retailers are advised to rethink their orders on this final issue as every other issue has been a major sellout.
