Samuel Gallu’s Give ‘Em Hell, Harry, the rousing one-man show on the life and times of Missouri native and 33rd President of the United States, Harry Truman, will be presented by The Midnight Company as a select performance of The Performing Arts Series at The Missouri History Museum. Featuring Joe Hanrahan as Truman and directed by Sarah Whitney, the play is an entertaining portrait of Truman, the plain-talking former haberdasher from Kansas City, who found himself in the office of the President during the critical final days of World War II, only to then find himself in the middle of some of the great struggles of our age: managing post-WW II economic challenges, charting the nation’s course during the beginning of the Cold War, facing down Douglas MacArthur in the midst of the Korean War, then dealing with Joe McCarthy and his Communist witch hunts. Give ‘Em Hell, Harry deftly mixes this high, historic drama with the charm and humor of Truman’s 19th-century rural Missouri upbringing, highlighting the rock-ribbed Midwestern values that upbringing bred.

Give ‘Em Hell, Harry, runs Feb. 12 through 22, Thurs., Fri. & Sat. at 8 p.m. and Sun. at 3 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm, in the E. Desmond Lee Auditorium at The Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. For more information, visit midnightcompany.com, or call 314-487-5305.
