St. Louis Shakespeare Boot Camp

St. Louis Shakespeare – Join us as an energetic and talented group of area high school students perform Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. This production is the result of several weeks of intense “boot camp” training and highlights the tremendous talent of these young people. The production includes students from Visitation Academy, Villa Duschene, Incarnate Word, Bishop Dubourg, Clyde Miller Careers Academy, Lafayette High School, O’Fallon High School, and home-schools.

Directed by Robin Weatherall. Robin was born in London, England, educated at Westminster Abbey Choir School, Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the University of London. He was a member of Britain’s Royal Shakespeare Company for 17 years appearing in 189 productions. Robin directs, composes and designs sound for productions both in the United States and Europe, specializing in the plays of William Shakespeare. He has worked with St. Louis Shakespeare for several seasons as both sound designer and director. In 2007 he received a Kevin Kline Award nomination for sound design for the St. Louis Shakespeare’s production of Metamorphoses.
Two nights only. Tickets are $5 each. The Taming of the Shrew will be performed at Johnson Hall at Third Baptist Church, Grand & Washington, across from the Fox Theatre.

LOCATION:  Johnson Hall inside Third Baptist Church, 620 N Grand Blvd (at Washington Ave). Across from The Fox Theatre.

DIRECTIONS:**  From Downtown/Illinois: Take Highway 40/64 West to Forest Park Parkway (exit 38A) toward Grand Boulevard. Go North on Grand Boulevard to Washington Avenue, turn right.
 
From the West or North St. Louis County: Take Highway 40/64 East to Grand Boulevard (exit 37B). Go North on Grand Boulevard to Washington Avenue.

**Please note that Grand Center will be having a street party on Friday, August 22 and will close Washington Avenue east of Grand to Teresa. You can enter the church parking lot from Grand by turning east on Samuel Shepard, then right into the church parking lot. There will also be a street party Saturday, August 23. You can reach the church parking lot from Grand by turning east on Lindell, left on Compton, and then left on Washington Ave where you can enter the church parking lot.  These special directions are available on our website at www.stlshakespeare.org

ACCESSIBILITY: Johnson Hall, Third Baptist Church is accessible to persons with disabilities, offering wheelchair accessible seating and rest rooms.

PARKING:  Free parking in the Church lot on the East side of the building.
