Missouri Botanical Garden Offers Classes


The Garden offers spring classes for adults.  Registration is going on now for sessions from March through June.







The Missouri Botanical Garden is naturally one of the area’s premier places for gardeners.  But did you know it’s also an ideal locale for novice or experienced artists, crafters, photographers, landscapers, cooks and others?  Broaden your knowledge of these and other hobbies with the Garden’s spring classes for adults.  Registration is going on now for sessions from March through June.

Just some of the classes include:

Basic Gardening Techniques acquaints aspiring green thumbs with everything from soil maintenance and proper watering to pruning and pest control.

To please your palate, sample Organic and Sustainable Wines guided by a certified sommelier, or delight in a Guided Chocolate Tasting with Bissinger’s Chief Chocolatier. Back by popular request, The Diabetic Gourmet shares delicious recipes for the health-conscious connoisseur.

Explore your artistic side by sharpening Botanical Drawing skills.  Discover how fun and easy Sketching the Garden can be.

Get outdoors in the beginner Basics of Birding class.  Stretch your mind and body with introductory Yoga sessions.

Learn Basic Photography principles in a multi-session class for novice and intermediate students.  Learn how to better use your digital camera in Basic Digital Photography and Imaging.

Most classes will be held at the Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Blvd. in south St. Louis.  Off-site class locations include the Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray Summit; Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Chesterfield; EarthWays Center in mid-town St. Louis; and Daniel Boone Library in Ellisville, Mo.  Cost varies by class; single sessions range from $5 to $75, and multi-sessions range from $80 to $190.  Garden members receive a discount.
