The Ken Kase Group’s CD release party for "Shiner" is scheduled for Saturday, July 19th, at 10:00 PM at Cicero’s, 6691 Delmar in the University City Loop.

The CD single includes three new Ken Kase compositions: "Shiner," "File Under This," and "Chocolatown."  and marks the band’s first new release in eight years. The CD will be for sale to the public Tuesday, July 22, at Vintage Vinyl and online at CDBaby.com; it will also be available on iTunes in early August.

"Chocolatown" features a blistering harmonica solo by St. Louis DJ and Vintage Vinyl co-owner, Tom "Papa" Ray. KDHX’s very own "Soul Selector" plays a mean blues harp around town but rarely lends his talents to recordings, making his appearance on the track a special event.

Kase and Holt are old friends and colleagues, having worked together alongside film director Mattson in the Groupers, the virtuosic pop band that haunted the St. Louis music scene in 1993-94. Kase and Holt have also performed together as members of Sun Sawed in 1/2, the seminal St. Louis pop band featuring Tim Rose, Ken Rose and Doug Bobenhouse. John Holt is also organist for the Civiltones.

Bassist Paul Bordeaux made a name for himself as a guitarist with Roger From the Dark. Guitarist Eric James has played with Rick Recht, Andrew John and Sable. Before joining the KKG last year, drummer Steve Mortellaro ended a stint with St. Louis band Bound.

The Ken Kase Group began performing in St. Louis in 1995, and since has released two CDs, performed live on 105.7 The Point and FM 101 the River, and performed on national concert bills along with the likes of Ben Folds Five, Dada, The Call, Shawn Colvin, Sister Hazel, Modern English and many others.
