Ronnie James Dio was the lead singer of a short-lived metal band called Elf in the '70s. He is a terribly short man with the strong facial features of a wizened leprechaun - thus the band's name. He went on to front Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his own solo act, Dio, all of which are seminal groups for the serious headbanger. Wherever he plies his trade, he brings his demonic vocal cords and a predilection for kings, queens, magic potions, dragons, wolves, golden sceptres and all manner of juvenile spellcasting bullshit.
