R.E.M. has launched a new iPhone/iPod Touch application free of charge; allowing fans access to their music and online content.

R.E.M. iPhone keeps fans up-to-date on the band.  Straight from the band's headquarters in Georgia; the app includes access to instant news, tour dates, song clips, photos, videos and more.  The application features Google Map support, allows users to upload their own content directly from their phones to Flickr, and gives access via YouTube to fan videos from the band's 2008 world tour.  The app also allows access to iTunes and the R.E.M. store to purchase your favorite music and t-shirts.

A feature called "R.E.M. & You" lets fans listen to a specific R.E.M. song and upload instant photos of themselves at that very moment, as well as view other's listening experiences.

The band released R.E.M. Live At The Olympia in October.  The album features 39 songs that "capture the best moments" for the band's rehearsals while visiting Dublin at the Olymbia club, where they tested new songs from their 2008 studio album Accelerate.
