prev_mattkim.jpgImagine if the White Stripes were from The Mission instead of Detroit, and in a nutshell you have Matt & Kim. If you haven't heard their single "Daylight," you're missing out on one of the most pleasant songs in recorded history to ever get stuck in your head. Infectious, energetic and catchy as all hell, their second album Grand has become one of the best albums of 2009, and while they've done an impressive amount of touring for the year, the duo is only taking a short break in August before they start up again. After performing at the Pitchfork Festival and to more than 5,000 fans at Pier 54 in New York City, most bands would be content for the year, but not these two Pratt brats. Their live show has become legend as of late, more like a dance party with a live performance. If you slept on them when they were here in March (as so many of you did), this would be the perfect chance to catch what will surely be one of the best shows this season. | Bryan J Sutter

Matt & Kim play Off Broadway in St. Louis on August 23. Doors 7 p.m./show 8. Tickets are $12 (21+) and $14 (under 18) in advance, $15 (21+) and $17 (under 21) day of show.
