Anarchy Club's EP offering A Single Drop of Red is a study in duality. The group churns out five stripped-down and straight-forward rock songs, buttressed by seven remixed versions of songs from their debut album, The Way and Its Power. While not necessarily conflicting with each other, Anarchy Club's pairing of linear rock with more experimental electronic elements seems lacking in continuity.

That said, this album certainly has something for everybody. The rock elements bear a striking resemblance to Rob Zombie, with a similar sound and delivery. To use the parlance of our times, tracks like "Blood Doll" and "No You Don't" really "stay the course" in terms of rock composition and overall sound. Vocal tracks contain enough heat without devolving into the atonal screaming more common to metal.

After a brief interlude, A Single Drop of Red moves into electro-rock territory with the remixes. Fans of Stabbing Westward would appreciate the overall feeling achieved through the combination of distorted guitars, thumping bass and synthetic sound/noise. "Enemy Ace" twists vocals in an infectious, if somewhat heavy handed, use of the vocoder effect.

The final verdict: It may take a minute to grab your attention, but A Single Drop of Red is definitely worth a listen. B | Josh Vise

RIYL: Stabbing Westward, KMFDM, Rob Zombie themed vocals, and general confusion.
