Once, the phenomenally successful independent film featuring the Frames Glen Hansard and  Marketa Irglova continues to make new with a win at the 2008 Academy Awards for best song.

Despite being up against a triumvirate of Disney songs and a beautiful gospel tune from August Rush film, Once's song "Falling Slowly" picked up the gold statuette and the couple were one of the highlights of the ceremony. Drawing comments from host John Stewart and an almost unheard of return to the stage so she could deliver comments that were cut short by the Academy's famously strict standards. Hansard, who bought a suit for the show (no tie) and cut his hair short, was typically excited by the win and back stage was heard asking Iraglova if their twin statues could kiss. She told him no as they were both boys to which Hansard responded "It's Ok, this is Hollywood."
