Anita at least shows that the band has potential, even if it hasn't quite fully realized it yet.

There are many ingredients in a perfect power pop casserole, and the Chicago-based trio Anita have included many of those on their debut EP—crunchy pop guitars, nasal vocals, short song lengths—but forgot the most important ingredient of all: the hooks. Though the songs on the band's self-titled debut EP are well-constructed, they don't stick with you when the disc is done spinning (though the Apples in Stereo-ish "Shame" comes close), and with a run time of less than 13 minutes, there's not much here to sink your teeth into either.
