I know we all may have some preconceived notions
about A Flock of Seagulls, and I wouldn't ever mean to diminish anyone who has
used their creative talents to achieve any level of sustainable pop success.
A Flock of Seagulls FREAKIN'
ROCKS!!!
That's right, you heard me.
I'll say it again: the guitar
player for A Flock of Seagulls FREAKIN' ROCKS!
That is to say, it turns out
that the band's current guitar player, Joe Rodriguez, is a shredder on the
side. Who would have guessed? I know we all may have some preconceived notions
about A Flock of Seagulls, and I wouldn't ever mean to diminish anyone who has
used their creative talents to achieve any level of sustainable pop success.
But I would never have thought of them as being virtuoso instrumentalists. Check
out Rodriguez's playing on his solo album, Antares:
The GranDesign. The writing is powerful and the guitar playing expressive.
See, it always pays to dig a little deeper. | Derek Lauer
