Well, pleasures really are in
the eye of the beholder...
When it comes to music, I LOVE
LOVE LOVE John Mayer. But I figure this is okay because I'm a girl. His syrupy
lyrics and kicking guitar riffs = hottest man alive. (Not really.) But I would
rather not admit my infatuation with Mr. Mayer, because most people view me as
an indie-rock elitist (and that doesn't include John Mayer).
When it comes to music, I'm also
pretty much obsessed with teenybopper bands. That's how I got my musical start,
after all: singing in front of the mirror to the Backstreet Boys, *Nsync,
Britney Spears, 98 Degrees, A*Teens, Nobody's Angel, and Hoku. (Luckily) I grew
out of that phase in my life, but I will always have those memories.
Guilty movie pleasures? ANYTHING
THAT IS A SAPPY LOVE STORY. The Holiday? That movie was
fabulous. Cheesy, but fabulous. Never
Been Kissed, Ever After, Serendipity, The Wedding Singer, The
Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Moulin Rouge, and Save the Last Dance: all of them are SO cheesy and basically the
same story, but...Jesus, SO GOOD. They never fail me. I also love Disney movies,
but they really only turn into a guilty pleasure when I sing along with the
characters.
As for books...I'm a big fan of
reading trashy romance novels, the Gossip
Girls series, and bad celebrity magazines. I've gotta admit, reading about
Britney shaving her head, exposing herself, and checking into rehab kept me
busy all afternoon.
Lastly, there's the TV shows.
I've always been a fan of Full House
(anyone else have three seasons on DVD?
Anyone?), and my friends love making fun of me for that. Sex and the City is another show that's constantly on (and is
usually relatively trashy), and pretty much any reality show about brides or
other bitchy women fulfills my heart's content.
And you know what? I'm not
really all that ashamed. | Kaylen
