"5'7" has a pop-rock feel to it. It opens up with a long musical interlude before the actual lyrics start—so long, I thought it was an instrumental at first. "A Lesson in Decay" is slower paced and, with lines like "Will you sell your soul for a little less" and "Never going to let you die easy," I found it to be a bit morbid.

"Nations Are Cults" is strictly instrumental; it's a good piece of music, putting the listener into a state of euphoria. I can close my eyes and let my mind run free on this track. The music is very pleasing to the ear.

"Into the Light" has a Phantom of the Opera sound to it with organs playing. There is also drum and cymbal spurts that I didn't really care for because it made it sound like they couldn't get it together. The song is about a guy asking his girl not give up on him or their love, making it the first song on the CD on which I actually knew what they were talking about.

"Drift Alone" is a good track with a country twang and what sounds like a banjo in the background. It's definitely a change from the rest of the CD. This song talks about a girl he had and how she said they would be better off someday.
