There was a time when I lived in New York
and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber was busy keeping Benadette Peters on the stage.
My wife will tell you that I have many guilty pleasures on
my iPod and music rack. There is the all too prominent Steely Dan Greatest Hits.
Of course there was that musical interlude I took into country music that had
me buying every honky-tonk collection that existed (I still have the song "Take
a Tater and Wait" by Little Jimmy Dickens imprinted in my grey matter). And
everybody needs a little Abba and Genesis now and again. The truly dirty little
secret is in the rack, tucked way down at the bottom in the very select show
tunes section. There was a time when I lived in New York
and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber was busy keeping Benadette Peters on the stage. So,
yes, I can sing at least a few verses from Song and Dance and Sunday in the
Park With George. Certainly, no Easter season can come without having a good
chunk of Jesus Christ Superstar running through my head and the Three Penny
Opera (even before Raul Julia and Sting made it cool) is still one of my
favorites. I draw the line at dancing though...at least in public. | Jim Dunn
