As
a teenager living in Europe in the mid-'90s, I heard a lot of Kylie
Minogue. She had dropped off the radar in the United States but was still charting highly in the
musical metropolis that is Belgium. Perhaps it was her stint on the most
ridiculous soap opera of all time, Neighbours
- one of the few shows that I used to be able to watch in English while
living in Belgium, so I must admit to that vice as well - or her ability to
bounce back from life-threatening illnesses with a fashion-forward Mia Farrow-style
pixie cut, but Kylie Minogue is 5 feet 0 inches of Australian magic. While
neither her singing nor her dancing is independently outstanding, she somehow
still manages to produce songs that are catchier than syphilis. | Leslie Wilson
