cd_amaker"Sissy New Age Cowboy" lets you know what Amaker thinks of designer-wearin' C&W posers ("the Rodeo is here to kick your ass").

This here platter is raw, no-frills country music distinguished by the whiskey-soaked low-register vocals of frontman Brent Amaker and the catchy, clip-clopping rhythm present on most of the ten tracks. "Sissy New Age Cowboy" lets you know what Amaker thinks of designer-wearin' C&W posers ("the Rodeo is here to kick your ass"), and "Get the Hell Out" is a great call-and-response number that sounds like it was actually recorded in a bar. Surely there's room for one more country kicker with a bunch of mean hombres shoutin' "Hell yeah!" on the chorus.

This CD is drier than the dry whiskey it celebrates, and it's pretty bare bones musically. But with sentiments like "This world is full of shit/ And I'm knee deep in it" and plenty of old-time rhythm to go along with that run-down cowboy attitude, Amaker and Co. oughta make the playlist of plenty o' drinkin', cussin', womanizing saddle pals.
