Broken Land say they have their sights set on a new territory called hindie rock: Hindustani rhythms and alternate tunings uniting under a rock and punk flag.

I can appreciate when bands are trying to break new territory. Broken Land say they have their sights set on a new territory called hindie rock: Hindustani rhythms and alternate tunings uniting under a rock and punk flag. They've even enlisted Jason LaFarge (Akron Family) to produce...but it doesn't help. There are points on Audio Postcard where the playing is horrendous, the songs wander, the instruments aren't in tune. It's enough to drive a listener insane.

I'd much rather listen to George Harrison and Klaus Voorman try to pull off Within You, Without You tripping on acid and only playing with their feet. Now that I'd pay to see! D | Jeffrey Smith

Dear Jr. John Simon,
No doubt a reasonable facsimile of your thought process would go as follows: "Gee Martha, this stuff don't sound like regahla four four time to me. And they don't tune their guitars real normal neither." William Burroughs said, "Don't send people who hate Italian food to go and review Italian restaurants." Yawn yawn. Even bigger yawn. Who's your teacher? I'll give him a lesson. Ah provincialism! It's what made America great.
Sincerely,

I’m a bit entertained by all this commotion about my writing style and my ability to comment on tunings and time signatures Nick. Just so you know sir, I actually have a degree in music performance with an emphasis in jazz studies and a degree in communication arts. I realize that your insular criticism is fueled by your resentment of my review Nick. However, I dare say that I have a pretty firm grasp of when a guitar is in or out of tune… even within a variety of alternate tunings.
