You have to give the Sterns credit: They've written about some pretty fantastic subjects on Sinners Stick Together. "Supreme Girl" is a love song based on our lovely President George Bush and one-time Supreme Court nominee Harriet Myers. As they say...she's incompetent, and she's infatuated with him. Masterful songwriters they are not, but clever songwriters? They are very clever songwriters. "Sinners and Saints" would have been the perfect soundtrack accompaniment for the Monkees' Head if only someone like David Lynch had directed it in 2004.

If you're a fan of throwback college indie rock á la Belle & Sebastian, you might end up a fan of the Sterns–assuming you can get over Chris Stern's Davey Jones-meets-Art Garfunkel vocals. | Jeffrey Smith
