January 2: PLAYBACK:stl presents Me and Other People, Andrew Essig, and Kevin Barry (of Orangefield)
PLAYBACK:stl PRESENTS
Tuesdays at CICERO’s | 8:30 p.m.
6691 DELMAR | $5 ($8 for minors) | all ages welcome
Join PLAYBACK:stl as we host Tuesday nights at Cicero’s in the Loop of
University City here in St. Louis. Each week, we will bring three great
acts to the cozy room in the club that offers fantastic bands every
night. (We highly recommend the pizza.)
Me and Other People (Columbia) | The band's diverse and
sometimes completely opposite tastes in music has led to material that
consciously jumps from one genre to the next. All three current members
have been primary writers for songs either completed or in development,
and the songwriting process is often democratic and slow. Like a fine
scotch, the music is distilled ... uh ... yeah we're basically just
kinda lazy. Me and Other People is currently in the process of
recording its first demo through a mix of live performances and a
quasi-studio setup. www.myspace.com/meandotherpeople
Andrew Essig | I've been playing for about 7 years. I've
just moved to St. Louis and am hoping to play some local venues to get
my fan base going and meet some other musicians who are interesting in
working together. I'm hopefully going into the studio this fall to
start an independently funded EP, so keep an eye out. For now I'm
flying solo and doing what I can to get my name out and known. www.myspace.com/essigmusic
Kevin Barry | Kevin's been playing around St. Louis for a
while, in a variety of collaborations with other musicians (Kevin
Michaels, Ghetto Prenup, The Lab). His latest project is
Orangefield, an acoustic, trippy collaboration with Grant Essig
(SevenStar, Jonathan Cour). Whatever the arrangement, expect
emotionally honest lyrics and delivery. www.myspace.com/orangefieldmusic
