Cameron McGill writes the kind of passionate, political folk songs you just don't hear every day. This Chicago songsmith is focused on his beliefs and the presentation of his art. Demure and unassuming off stage, onstage he's a dervish of wails, rapidfire poetic lines, political leanings, and instrumentation: acoustic guitar, harmonica, piano, sometimes all looping at once. Whether solo or with his band, Cameron McGill and What Army, he's utterly captivating. You'll wonder what's wrong with America that someone like McGill isn't signed and living large (well, not yet, anyway).

PLAYBACK:stl/KDHX 88.1 FM is proud to present not only McGill but three other talented and oft-overlooked singer-songwriters, as well. With this, our first Big Show of 2007, McGill will be joined on the beautiful, starlit stage of Finale by Noah Harris (a member of What Army, but also a performer in his own right) and St. Louisans Geoff Koch and Corey Saathoff (9:30 show only).

There will be two shows, a standard three-bill set at 7:30 followed by a special songwriters-in-the-round performance at 9:30. Let McGill and Co. show you how music's meant to be, all stripped down and honest and...well, real.
