Creek Drank the Cradle is a haunting debut delivered in a folksy-country-blues style.

We live in a time where speed is of an essence and everything is about the present. We have electronic this and electronic that driving our needs. Every once in a while, something comes along that reminds us of how delicate life can be; Creek Drank the Cradle by Iron and Wine does just that.

Creek Drank the Cradle is a haunting debut delivered in a folksy-country-blues style. It is a very quiet album that is presented in hushed vocals reminiscent of Nick Drake.

Iron and Wine is Sam Beam. He wrote, played, and recorded all the songs by himself, in his house. You will hear some guitar and some banjo and some slide guitar, all used in a delicate, reflective manner. The key to this album is its simplicity. This is not an album that is going to physically blow your socks off; instead, it will make you lie back in your seat and reflect, forget the world outside your window. At the same time, the mystical charm of the lyrics will keep you focused, trying to figure out what each song is really about.

Creek Drank the Cradle builds slowly and will keep your interest for years to come. This is only the beginning for Iron and Wine.
