The end of yet another college semester means a changing of the guard—er, interns—here at PLAYBACK:stl HQ.

Ah, but that sounded morose, didn't it?

But it's here, the end of yet another college semester, which means a changing of the guard—er, interns—here at PLAYBACK:stl HQ. As I blog this, this semester's for-credit interns, Katie and Jill, are downstairs, sending out May tear sheets. Designing ads. Updating the CD log. Normal intern duties, all of them. Except, in this instance, they're doing it for the last time.

They're also singing, playing really bad '80s music on the computer as loudly as they can, their voices rising and blending, creeping up the stairs where I am trying desperately to drown them out with Tommy Keene. And realizing I will miss them.

Earlier, they performed for me a choreographed pee pee dance. (Um...maybe you shouldn't ask.) After which one of them promptly excused herself to the bathroom, so I guess it worked.

So Katie and Jill—and our noncredit interns, too: Janalyn and Cindy and Brendan from time to time—we thank you. We will miss you. But not so much that we will play Huey Lewis in your honor.
